Mukesh Ambani-backed Jio is set to launch a new phone in the Indian market. That is Jio’s feature phone, and according to our sources, price of Jio’s feature phone around 500-600 rupees. Jio 4G VOLTE network has over 120 million subscribers, which shows how popular its services are among the price-sensitive Indians. The company may announce the phone on July 21 at its annual general meeting (AGM) in Mumbai. The rumors also have that Mukesh Ambani can announce its JioFiber services at the company’s annual general meeting.
Reliance Jio’s LYF 4G feature phone will sport a 2.4-inch colour display, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, dual-SIM, microSD card support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, and a 2,000mAh battery. There will be a 2-megapixel shooter on the rear and a VGA camera on the front for video calls. Don’t expect the feature phone to be as powerful as a smartphone, but we are not confirmed about these specifications. According to some websites, Lyf Jio Feature Phone will be launched in two different processor variants. One model will be powered by the Qualcomm chipset, and other will powered by Spreadtrum processor.
Jio’s first feature phone will not completely feature phone, because it will sport Facebook and Whatsapp, and it will run on KAI OS which apparently is a forked version of FireOS.
Cheapest 4G features phone will come with all-plastic body with a candy-bar design and a textured back. Its keypad will support Hindi and English language, and the home button in the center will serve up as a dedicated key for Torchlight.
