As you can imagine there are lots of different reasons why you may want to trim out part of a video. In some cases you may only be interested in a particular part of the video to begin with, or in others some of the footage you recorded may have issues that can’t be rectified or are unusable for other reason.
In any case being able to trim your videos is one of the more important aspects of editing – but unfortunately many editors overcomplicate it. If you’d like to be able to quickly remove any parts of your video that you don’t want, you should try using Movavi Video Editor.
How to Split and Trim a Video
Basically what you need to know how to do is split a video into segments so that you can isolate the part that you don’t want and then trim it from your video. Assuming you’ve already installed Movavi Video Editor, you should launch it and select the ‘Create project in full feature mode’ option to open the editor itself.
On the interface you can then click on the ‘Add Media Files’ button and select the video that you want to trim to add it to Movavi Video Editor. It will automatically appear in the ‘Timeline’ area and you can click on it there to select it.
To split your video you need to move the marker along the video that you added to the ‘Timeline’ until it is at the point where you’d like to split it. Once there, click on the ‘Split’ icon (i.e. the scissors) that is located in the row of icons right above Movavi Video Editor’s ‘Timeline’.
If the part of your video that you want to trim is in the middle of your video, you may have to repeat the step above and split the video once more. When the segment is isolated, you can click on it to select it and then press the ‘Delete’ key on your keyboard to remove it from your video. Another way to trim video in Movavi Video Editor is to right-click the segment and select ‘Delete’ in the menu that appears.
That basically encompasses everything you need to know to split a video, isolate the part you don’t want, and trim it out completely. All that remains is to click ‘Export’ and select the format to use to save your video, or use one of Movavi Video Editor’s built-in presets.
Prior to saving your video however you should try out some of the other features that Movavi Video Editor has to offer. With them you could apply effects and filters, merge clips together, add audio tracks, insert captions, enhance the video quality, and more.
Just as Movavi Video Editor makes trimming videos easy, all of its other features are equally intuitive and you should have no trouble making full use of them. Of course the proof is in the pudding – so be sure to try them out firsthand and see for yourself.
